National Apprenticeship Week – Liquid Friday’s awesome apprentices

National Apprenticeship Week 2020 runs from 3rd – 9th February 2020. This annual celebration of apprenticeships brings the whole apprenticeship community together to celebrate the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy.

Key to our success

At Liquid Friday apprentices are key to our success. One of the ways we bring employees into the business is by nurturing new talent through our Apprenticeship Program. We’ve won Apprenticeship Employer of the Year a total of three times, and we’ve also been shortlisted for a National Apprenticeship Award.

Almost all of our apprentices go on to become permanent members of staff after their two year training period, all in valuable, diverse roles.

Here some of our current and former apprentices share their experiences of apprenticeship with Liquid Friday. We love you guys!

Bailey, Lewis, Lucy and Kyle

Lewis, Head of Payroll (former apprentice, 2011)

“I decided to do an apprenticeship as I felt it would be more beneficial for me to learn whilst on the job rather than in a classroom.

Luckily I found an employer, Liquid Friday, who were passionate about supporting and developing their staff.

I started out as an apprentice Expenses Coordinator then after 18 months joined the payroll team as a junior. I have since worked my way up to Head of Payroll.

I would recommend all employers and employees to get involved in apprenticeship schemes.”

Kyle, Outsource Payroll Team Leader (former apprentice, 2014)

“I joined Liquid Friday as Expenses Administrator in 2014 and have recently been promoted to Outsource Payroll Team Leader.

To gain a qualification whilst also earning a wage was great!
It was a brilliant experience and would highly recommend it – doing an apprenticeship.”

Lucy, Payroll Team Leader (apprentice since 2018)

“I started off at Liquid Friday as a Junior Payroll Coordinator in 2016. In 2018 I made the decision to start an apprenticeship. I chose to do it to gain qualifications in a workplace environment rather than in a classroom and luckily Liquid Friday were able to help and support me.

The apprenticeship has helped me develop knowledge and skills in the workplace to progress – I have since in 2019 been promoted to Payroll Team Leader – and would recommend doing an apprenticeship especially for those that want to gain skills whilst working.”

Bailey, Payroll Coordinator (apprentice since 2018)

“I joined Liquid Friday in 2018 as apprentice Payroll Coordinator but generally help out where required.

I wanted to get a qualification in administration and thought would be best suited in an office environment rather than the classroom.

I would recommend an apprenticeship because as well as learning you are earning a wage and progressing a career.”
