Blake Technical Services (BTS) was created by our founder Janine Folgado after her frustrations with Umbrella companies in the industry being too rigid and delivering poor. Janine set out with the simple aim of being the first Umbrella Payroll company that delivered fantastic Customer Services with Flexible processes to suit any agency partner.


Janine had rapidly established BTS on the agency market on the South Coast, now the company looked for National recognition. BTS evolved into Liquid Friday Ltd, from here our culture was born. Always striving for Exceptional Customer Care and delivering a fast, accurate and reliable payroll was at the very heart of what we do. (And still is)


As part of our journey to be serious Umbrella player on a national scale Liquid Friday joined APSCo as an affiliate and immediately started to establish our brand as a fresh and exciting new player in the industry.


To better reflect the businesses identity and culture a new brand was created that wanted to show we had personality and set us apart from our competitors… and it is very green!

As our brand grew and business expanded we were honoured to be recognised by The Times 100 Fast Track list as the UK’s 22nd Fastest Growing companies.

During this time Liquid Friday began its journey to share best practice and knowledge with the industry. In July we invited the industry to join us on a national roadshow to discuss the upcoming Agency Workers Regulations and how this will affect the Recruitment Industry and how Liquid Friday could help.

It was at this time that we established a sister company “Liquid Numbers” this was an accountancy provider delivering services to Personal Service Companies, this business has now flourished into one of the UK’s most successful online accounting providers as The App Accounting Group t/a Boox.


For a fantastic second year in a row we were recognised by The Times 100 Fast Track list as the UK 31st fastest growing company. This is a rare achievement and one we are still very proud of.

On top of our success growing our business we were busy building our team of the future with an Apprenticeship Programme for our Portsmouth Head Office. This was recognised by Fareport Training who awarded us Apprentice Employer of the Year.

To top off a great year, we left our home at the Portsmouth Technopole in to our own offices in central Portsmouth. This office was designed to allow Liquid Friday to grow and be better positioned to ensure we delivered the exceptional customer care our customers needed.


We started off with being awarded Apprentice Employer of the Year again! We continued to invest in our Apprenticeship and was starting to see real talent shaping the future of our business.

This was also the year we continued our investment in compliance, we built an industry leading compliance to ensure that as we grew standards were maintained and improved.

The year was topped off with our successful application to join the FCSA. The FCSA work to protect and support contractors and freelancers with a rigorous code of conduct that sets the standard for the sector.


For an amazing 3rd year in a row we were once again awarded Apprentice Employer of the Year by our partners at Fareport Training.

We also flexed our nautical muscles and entered the Little Britain (an around the Isle Wight Race) for the first time. Our team took all three trophies and led the 150 boat flotilla to victory.

This was also the year we refreshed our brand and found a new shade of green to call home!


Following the continued growth of our business we had to pack our bags and move to larger premises. Fortunately, we found the perfect home for the business with plenty of space to grow and continued to deliver our vision to become the number one choice for agencies and contractors.


We took a huge leap forward this year, we developed four new services to continue to deliver payroll services agencies and contractors wanted. We teamed up with Perkbox to deliver the Umbrella Industries first and best employment package giving our contractors access to thousands of savings and a completely free virtual “Well Being” centre.

We also continued to share our knowledge with the recruitment with our second National Roadshow Tour. This time the subject was Travel & Subsistence and the governments changes to employment rights. Once again this was attended by hundreds of agency partners and we share our thoughts and plans for the future.


Our next evolution is our biggest yet, with over a decades experience in the industry we know we can do more. We can also ensure that we can help our client do more.

We are delivering several new services from Visa and Right to Work Checks to Invoice Discounting, from Outsourcing Credit Control to Web Design, from Contractor Finance to Business Cards.

Liquid Friday will be doing more so you can do less of what you don’t want to do, and more of what is important for you.
